Hellebore Moondance

Common Name: Lenten Rose

The first pure white flowered selection in the Frost Kiss Helleborus series, and a beauty it is, Moondance features abundant glowing flowers against extremely dark foliage, From mid winter well into spring, this incredibly floriferous beauty displays large, outward-facing and nodding bowl-shaped flowers with white petals surrounding a chartreuse green center zone from which emerges a prominent burst of yellow stamens and a red carpel. The abundant, long-lasting flowers are perched atop strong and sturdy stems to about 18 inches tall which make them excellent for cutting and display in floral arrangements and bouquets. The nectar-rich flowers offer emerging winter and early spring bees an essential food source at a time when not much else is blooming in the garden. The flower stems rise above a handsome clump of evergreen, leathery, very deep green leaves with silver veining. Virtually problem-free and exceptionally long-lived, this delightful winter bloomer thrives in partially shaded garden beds, even under the canopies of large trees, as well as in container gardens for situating on patios, porches, decks and around other outdoor sitting and living spaces.
