Pinpoint Gold Lawson False Cypress……..Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘SMNCLMG' USPP 33,228

Common Name: Port Orford Cedar

A tall column of lushness, at only 4 to 5 feet wide and up to 20 feet in height, the small footprint of the Pinpoint Gold Lawson Cypress is perfect where height is needed in small spaces. It makes a fine specimen or can be grouped where space allows. Perfect for an evergreen privacy screen where space is limited. This beauty gets its name from its narrow form clothed in soft and feathery green foliage tipped in golden yellow. Easy to grow and low-maintenance, with no pruning necessary to maintain its narrow form, Pinpoint Gold is deer resistant and drought tolerant when established, and the deer walk right by it.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 15 to 20 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, the Pinpoint Gold False Cypress is ideal for use as a tall vertical accent in small spaces and where height is needed but space is limited in home foundation plantings. Also excellent in evergreen privacy screen plantings in narrow spaces. A fine addition to conifer gardens, yellow theme gardens, and rock gardens.

Spacing:  3.5 to 4 feet apart for solid hedge; 7 feet or more apart for space between plants

Cultural Preferences: Pinpoint Gold Lawson False Cypress is easy to grow in most any well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to light shade. Foliage color is more intense with more sun. As with many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic. So make sure the soil in the planting area is well-draining. Avoid overwatering, providing only enough water to maintain a damp to moist soil. When established, Pinpoint Gold Lawson False Cypress has good drought tolerance and would only need supplemental irrigation during prolonged periods of dry weather. No pruning is required to maintain its naturally dense and narrow form, though it can be sheared lightly for a more formal look.
