The Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry is a striking perennial that makes for a lovely addition to an outdoor space due to its gold foliage. The 4-foot tall mounded growth habit allows this plant to serve as a border or a specimen planting, but this stunner also produces blueberries. The shrub blooms in the spring with pretty white flowers, followed by berries shortly after. The fruit can be eaten fresh, baked into pies or muffins, used to make jelly or jam, or frozen. After the berry haul, the foliage continues to add visual interest by turning shades of chartreuse and orange.

Plant this mounded thriller 36 to 48 inches apart to create a lush hedge or border. This cultivar blooms on old wood, so wait several years before pruning the plant. Soil should be acidic and well-draining. The Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry cannot self-pollinate, so include a compatible pollinating plant to ensure the shrub produces fruit.

Growing Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry

Berries are ready to harvest in early summer. The berries will be plump and a deep shade of blue when ripe. Plant in full sun, and this 4-foot tall shrub will reach its full potential.

Growing Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry in Containers

Plant the Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry in a 12-inch container. Place the potted plant in full sun and water when the top couple of inches of soil are dry. 

Watering Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry

The Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry has average water needs, so water when the top few inches of soil start to dry out. This plant prefers moist conditions but does not like to be soggy, so avoid overwatering.

Feeding Sky Dew™ Gold Blueberry

Apply balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring to promote abundant growth. This blueberry is not a heavy feeder and will do well with rich soil high in organic content.
